{"id":281,"date":"2018-12-12T19:49:33","date_gmt":"2018-12-13T03:49:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alertfirstaid.com\/blog\/?p=281"},"modified":"2018-12-20T21:03:03","modified_gmt":"2018-12-21T05:03:03","slug":"child-safety-checklist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alertfirstaid.com\/blog\/child-safety-checklist\/","title":{"rendered":"Child Safety Checklist"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Children can be fun and amazing, but they can also be prone to accidents and getting into things that can be dangerous to both themselves and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go on a tour of your house with this child safety checklist to make sure you and your family are safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kitchen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Spilled liquids are mopped up right away.<\/li><li>When pots and pans are on the stove, their handles are turned inward.<\/li><li>Knives, scissors and sharp objects are kept safely out of children&#8217;s reach.<\/li><li>The stepstool is strong and in good condition.<\/li><li>Cleaning products, insecticides and matches are kept safely out of children&#8217;s reach.<\/li><li>Dishwasher detergents are kept out of children&#8217;s reach and are wiped up if spilled.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hall and Stairs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hall and stairs are well lit.<\/li><li>Stair carpeting or tread covers are tacked down securely.<\/li><li>Scatter rugs have non-skid material or padding underneath them.<\/li><li>There is a gate at the top of the stairs.<\/li><li>Stair treads are in good repair.<\/li><li>There are no toys, clutter, etc. in hallways and staircases.<\/li><li>There is a light switch at the end of each hallway and staircase.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Living Room<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Scatter rugs are either tacked down or have non-skid material underneath them.<\/li><li>Furniture is in good repair.<\/li><li>Footstools and small tables do not block traffic paths.<\/li><li>Electric cords do not trail.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bedrooms<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The window screens are strong and fastened securely.<\/li><li>Children cannot climb over balcony railings or fall through them.<\/li><li>Babies and young children cannot fall out of bed.<\/li><li>Mattresses for infants are flat and firm.<\/li><li>Cosmetics are put away in a drawer or cabinet.<\/li><li>Clothing and shoes are put away in the closet.<\/li><li>Medicines are kept safely out of children&#8217;s reach.<\/li><li>Dressers and other large furniture is anchored to the wall.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Children can be fun and amazing, but they can also be prone to accidents and getting into things that can be dangerous to both themselves and others.
