First-Aid Instructor Recertification
This course includes practical first aid and teaching/evalulation skills sessions, professional development and updates relating to Canadian Red Cross First Aid issues and Canadian Red Cross generic components.
Proof of current Red Cross First Aid Instructor certification
Proof of Red Cross First Aid instructor certification that falls within the Grace period (listed below)
Proof that you have taught a minimum of three Candian Red Cross CPR/First Aid courses during the three-year period. One of the courses must be Standard First Aid, Standard Child Care First aid, or Marine Basic First Aid since obtaining the instructor certification or recertification.
Expired First Aid Instructor certification?
If your certification has expired within the last two years and you want to instruct again, you will need to attend a recertification course. This time frame is considered to be in a grace period. The prerequisite number of courses must have been taught within the valid certification period. Participant must have a current SFA CPR-HCP certification. A co-teach may be necessary, and would be at the discretion of the Instructor Trainer teaching the recertification. A co-teach form, outlining the co-teach requirements will be filled out by the Instructor Trainer.
If your certification has been expired for more than two years but less than five years, you will be required to complete a full First Aid Instructor Transfer course. A co-teach, if necessary, would be at the discretion of the Instructor Trainer teaching the Instructor Transfer course.
If your certification has been expired for five years or more, you will be required to take a complete First Aid Instructor course. A co-teach, if necessary, would be at the discretion of the Instructor Trainer teaching the First Aid Instructor course.
