A hands-on, comprehensive Red Cross first aid course for those working in marine environments, through a combination of online and in-person delivery.
Our Canadian Red Cross Marine Basic First Aid & CPR Level C Blended course is a fun and comprehensive first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course designed particularly for those who work in marine environments. This is a blended course, so combines self-paced, online instruction with a face-to-face, in-person skills session led by one of our fantastic instructors.
The Marine Basic First Aid course skills are very similar to the Standard First Aid course - the main difference is that the scenarios used are taken from the marine/fishing industry. This course meets the requirements of Transport Canada outlined in Transport Publication (TP) 13008 E.
We truly believe that first aid is a physical skill, and the majority of your in-person session will be spent doing hands-on first aid and participating in realistic first aid scenarios, developing confidence and muscle memory. At the end of this course, participants should feel sure of their skill and confident to act in an emergency.
The online module must be completed before you come in for the in-person portion, and will take up to 8 hours to complete. You can start and stop as many times as you'd like while you work through it, and it can be taken up to 4 weeks ahead of your in-person course.
We're doing our best to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community, and so masks are mandatory for the duration of the course.

Awesome! Was not looking forward to doing the course because of a CPR course I did last year with a different company that was not very good, but was very happy with this course. It was entertaining, well taught and I feel confident now in an emergency.
"Everythng went smoothly, and the instructor was fantastic and could not have done a better job."
"I was pleased that CPR procedures are so much simpler than in the past. I feel equipped to handle an emergency now, because most of it just reinforces common sense. Although, it is crucial to know that what you're doing is the best thing for someone who needs help."
The instructor was very engaging and made the course interesting! I would recommend Alert First-Aid Services to a friend!
Had fun in the class. Was not boring or rigid.
"Loved the course and how it was taught. I'm glad that it was hands on, it made me feel much more comfortable with situations. I would even take a shorter lunch and learn more."
Have done first aid before mostly book work. Liked the hands on work.
"Totally enjoyed the recert course. I always come to Alert First-Aid despite living in Duncan. I'd love for more courses to be offered in the Cowichan Valley."
"Wonderful, hands-on instruction that was practical and easy to remember."
