Transportation Endorsement

Each participant will identify and manage critical interventions of the airway and breathing with C-spine control for conscious patients and patients with a decreased level of consciousness. Topics include Review the Priority Action Approach, ABC assessments,  How to  assess pulses assess breathing rate, opening an airway with a jaw thrust manoeuvre, use of a pocket mask with the jaw thrust, how to use an oral airway.   The participant will be able to prepare patients for transport in the supine and lateral positions. The procedures should not take longer than 15 minutes from the approach to the patient and will follow the guidelines in the Occupational First Aid Transportation Endorsement Training Manual. Learning Tasks: Anatomical and neutral position Patient packaging and immobilization for transport as well as the purpose of patient packaging and immobilization for transport, equipment requirements, patient positioning for transport, securing techniques Move a patient from the prone position to the supine position Conduct a Primary Survey on an unresponsive patient requiring assisted ventilation, found prone Prepare a patient for transport,  apply a hard collar 2. position and secure a patient to a spine board in the supine position 3. position and secure a patient to a spine board in the lateral
