First-aid courses
Try our fun, hands on realistic first-aid training in a no pressure learning environment
For the duration of the course, you will be expected to wear a mask that securely covers the nose, mouth, and chin.
Traditionally, the Standard First Aid course is a 2-day in-class training course. Blended first aid training is a combination of online training with a practical in-class, face-to-face skill session that provides the best of both hands-on and online training. This course includes CPR Level C.

We are operating with smaller-than-normal class sizes and will be maintaining physcial distance where possible. With first aid classes, this will not always be possible as we will need to practice and evaluate some hands-on skills. If you are not comfortable with this please consider signing up with a partner from your bubble, or not registering for this course. Facemasks, gloves and hand sanitizer will be available in all our classrooms.
We kindly ask anyone (participants and instructors) with symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and painful swallowing to stay home and not attend the training session. Instead, please complete the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool, follow the recommendations given, and rebook your course for a later date.
During your course, wearing a mask that securely covers the nose, mouth, and chin is mandatory. You may bring your own, or one will be provided when you arrive. Thank you for keeping us and your classmates safe.

Canadian Red Cross certificates are now virtual! You will receive a certificate of completion once you've successfully completed the online portion of the course, and a permanent virtual certificate will be emailed to you and will be available to view on your My Red Cross profile. This certificate is valid for 3 years.
If you have a current and valid Standard First Aid certificate, you are eligible to take a shorter Standard First Aid recertification course.
The online portion of this course can be taken from any computer. It takes approximately 8 hours to complete, and you can start and stop at your convenience. The online portion must be completed before you attend the in-class portion.
Please note that during this pandemic, the Canadian Red Cross has extended certificate expiry dates by 90 days for any certificate holder who would expire between March 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020.
You do not need to take any action yourself to benefit from this automatic extension, and you will not actually receive an updated certificate. This simply means that all relevant agencies and regulatory bodies have agreed to treat your certificate as though it were still valid for 90 days past the expiration date.

"I have always done St. John Ambulance first aid training. This course was taught differently but was more effective due to m ore hands on training. I will definitely return to Alert First Aid for my re-certification. Thank You!!"

"The instructor was entertaining and obviously experienced in the field of first aid. It is a lot of information in a short time, clearly presented, varied, physical and fun. Thank you for teaching today's course. I was a teacher so I know how difficult it is to keep people's attention for a long time. You did an excellent job."
Sandy Bell

"I’ve always enjoyed Alert First Aid courses so when I moved from Victoria to Vancouver I was happy to see they had Alert here too. It’s an interactive, hands on class that makes me feel confident in my skills."
