We kindly ask anyone (participants and instructors) with symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and painful swallowing to stay home and not attend the training session. Instead, please complete the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool, follow the recommendations given, and rebook your course for a later date.

During your course, wearing a mask that securely covers the nose, mouth, and chin is mandatory. You may bring your own, or one will be provided when you arrive. Thank you for keeping us and your classmates safe.

Youth Leader

Youth Leaders support the Red Cross Youth First Aid Program through the delivery of the Stay Safe! and Babysitting courses.


  • Minimum age of 18 y/o (or 16-17 y/o with adult support)

  • Red Cross Standard First aid & CPR/AED Level C certification or equivalent


  • Completion of the online component (Fundamentals of Instruction for Youth Leaders)
  • Completion of a Teaching Experience (unless meet exceptions listed below)

Post-course Requirements

Youth Leader candidates must complete a teaching experience with a certified Canadian Red Cross Youth Leader.

If you are already an Educator (elementary or secondary level), Red Cross First Aid or Water Safety Instructor or Instructor Trainer, you do not need to complete the teaching experience.
