What is covered in advanced first aid?

There are several different types of more advanced first aid courses aimed at teaching people first aid beyond a regular ‘layrescuer’ skills. What is covered will depend on the specific course, but for advanced courses such as OFA Level 2, OFA Level 3, First Responder and Marine Advanced First Aid courses you will learn more detailed primary assessments and treatments, more detailed tracking of a person’s condition over time. You may also learn about patient and packaging and transportation. Another important part of more advanced courses will be much more time to practice and become proficient in your basic skills, and much more rigorous practical testing in order to successfully pass the course and become certified.

Canadian Red Cross certificates are now virtual! You will receive a temporary certificate at the end of your course, and a permanent virtual certificate will be emailed to you after you've successfully completed the course. You will receive both a Red Cross certification in Marine Advanced First Aid and a Transport Canada certification. You will be able to view your manual and certification online at any time through your MyRedCross account. Certification is valid for 3 years.

Great instructor. Presented the material in an angaging way. I know he noticed that people were fading on the second day so he got everyone to stand quick and do something. Much more engaging than other first aid courses I’ve taken.
