The VIERA First Responder course provides comprehensive training in pre-hospital emergency care, including full EMALB Schedule 1 and 2 content —preparing students for real-world response and licensing in British Columbia.
The VIERA First Responder course is a comprehensive introduction to pre-hospital emergency care, designed for individuals pursuing roles as professional first responders or seeking to advance their emergency response skills. This program covers essential techniques for sustaining life, preventing further injury, and managing a wide range of medical and trauma emergencies until higher-level care arrives.
Training includes CPR at the Basic Life Support (BLS) level and AED certification, along with full EMALB Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 endorsements. With an updated scope of practice built directly into the curriculum, graduates do not require separate “Scope Update” training to meet current standards.
Successful completion of this course is the first step toward licensing with the B.C. Emergency Medical Licensing Board (EMALB) at the First Responder level, and can support employment opportunities with fire departments, industrial workplaces, and emergency services throughout the province.
This course includes the 5th Edition VIERA First Responder Textbook.
