Our Canadian Red Cross Marine Basic First Aid & CPR Level C Blended course is a fun and comprehensive first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course designed particularly for those who work in marine environments. This is a blended course, so combines self-paced, online instruction with a face-to-face, in-person skills session led by one of our fantastic instructors.

Embark on our Canadian Red Cross Marine Basic First Aid & CPR Level C Blended course, a comprehensive and enjoyable program tailored for those working in marine environments. This unique offering integrates self-paced online instruction with a hands-on, face-to-face skills session guided by our exceptional instructors.

While the skills taught in the Marine Basic First Aid course closely align with those in the Standard First Aid course, the scenarios are specifically drawn from the marine and fishing industries. This course is meticulously designed to fulfill Transport Canada's criteria as outlined in Transport Publication (TP) 13008 E.

Our firm belief in the physical nature of first aid leads us to allocate a substantial portion of the in-person session to hands-on practice and immersive real-world first aid situations. This approach fosters confidence and muscle memory, ensuring participants are poised to act confidently during emergencies.

Before attending the in-person segment, the online module must be completed, requiring up to 8 hours. This self-paced module allows flexibility in starting and stopping as needed and can be taken within 4 weeks leading up to your in-person session. Upon course completion, participants will emerge skilled and self-assured in their ability to respond effectively to emergencies.

FAQs

Does Marine basic first aid expire?

Yes, Canadian Red Cross Marine First Aid Certification expires 3 years after the date of issue.

What does CPR Level C mean?

Level C CPR is the highest level of “lay rescuer” CPR and covers basic CPR, the use of AED and a small number of life saving techniques as they apply to adults, children and babies. Unless you work as a professional responder, or a health care professional in a clinical setting, CPR C will meet the needs of any employer who requires you to be certified in CPR. CPR C and CPR recertification are offered as stand-alone courses at Alert First Aid. That being said, CPR C is also included as an integral part of the majority of our first-aid courses, such as Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, and Marine First Aid. Most people get their CPR C certification as part of one of these First Aid courses. The only First Aid courses we offer that do not include CPR C are our Worksafe BC Occupational First Aid courses, since those courses are specifically focused on First Aid for co-workers, and don’t touch on children or babies. If you are signed up for one of our OFA Level 1, 2, or 3 courses and need CPR C certification as well, please phone our office, and this can be arranged to be included in your course for a reasonable fee.

What is blended CPR?

Our CPR C courses are now available in a ‘blended’ format which means your classroom time can be cut in half. If you sign up for our blended CPR class, you’ll be sent a link to an online course which you need to complete before the start of your in-class course. The online course focuses on the ‘knowledge’ aspects of the course. This means you only have to spend about 3 hours in the classroom (instead of 6 hours) which will be focused on the ‘skills’ aspects of the course, where you will have practice time with one of our instructors along with other students.
