Non-Medical Facemask

$1.25

OUT OF STOCK

At the time of manufacture (2009), these masks were NIOSH-approved N95 respirators. They are past their shelf-life, and so can no longer be considered NIOSH-approved N95 respirators, but they were stored inside, are individually packaged, the straps are intact and there are no visible signs of damage.

These masks may still be used as non-medical face masks, not medical respirators, in healthcare and non-healthcare settings, where a 95% filtration is not needed.

Also available in boxes of 10 and boxes of 100.

Use of N95 and equivalent respirators beyond their shelf life

Most respirators have a limited shelf life, after which they should normally be thrown out. The length of time a respirator is stored beyond its shelf life or recommended conditions of storage may affect its performance. This includes the filter media, the headbands and the nose foam components, which may affect the seal that is created.

N95 respirators that are past their designated shelf life are no longer NIOSH-certified, as they must meet all manufacturer-designated conditions of use to maintain the NIOSH approval. However, in times of increased demand and decreased supply, health care providers may consider using expired respirators. You can read more about Health Canada's guidance here.
