The Canadian Red Cross First Aid & CPR Instructor Transfer Option 2 course focuses on the specific skills of the core Red Cross First Aid Program, and instructor candidates will learn to teach Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, Marine Basic First Aid, Emergency Child Care First Aid, Standard Child Care First Aid and CPR courses.
This course includes Stepts 1, 2 & 3 as outlined below. You will still need to complete a Teaching Experience before becoming fully certified.
Canadidates with previous experience as a Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor/Instructor Trainer or who are an educator (elementary or secondary level) will follow the Instructor Development Pathway above, however they will not be required to complete the in-class component of Step 2.
Instructor candidates must be 18 years or older and have a valid Standard First Aid participant certificate. The first day of the course will be a First Aid & CPR Instructor skills evaluation with a Teaching Experience Supervisor or Instructor Trainer.
The next step in the instructor pathway is the Fundamentals of Instruction course, which consists of an 8-hour online module followed by a 2-day in-class module. Transfer Option 2: If you are currently a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, you will skip the in-class portion of this course, but will still need to complete the 8-hour online module.
The First Aid & CPR Discipline-Specific module consists of two days in class and microteach assignments that you'll receive ahead of time.
The last step in the certification process is to complete a Teaching Experience online module (30-45 min) and a classroom component with the support of a Teaching Experience Supervisor.

Awesome! Was not looking forward to doing the course because of a CPR course I did last year with a different company that was not very good, but was very happy with this course. It was entertaining, well taught and I feel confident now in an emergency.
"Great supportive environment geared toward progressive learning with consistent constructive feedback. A great week and experience. Thank you!"
Chris was great! Very enthusiastic, approachable and had a good sense of humour!
Thank you! Course was great. Clear & to the point. Good use of time.
This was easily the best first aid course that I have ever taken. The practical experience will certainly be easy to remember. Gary is a stellar instructor and has a true gift in teaching and dealing with people.
