We kindly ask anyone (participants and instructors) with symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and painful swallowing to stay home and not attend the training session. Instead, please complete the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool, follow the recommendations given, and rebook your course for a later date.
During your course, wearing a mask that securely covers the nose, mouth, and chin is mandatory. You may bring your own, or one will be provided when you arrive. Thank you for keeping us and your classmates safe.

This Canadian Red Cross Professional Responder course is designed for candidates who wish to deliver Canadian Red Cross Professional Responder courses, including Basic Life Support (BLS), First Responder (FR), Advanced First Aid (AFA), Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Oxygen Therapy (OT), Marine Advanced First Aid (MAFA), Airway Management (AM).
The pathway to becoming a certified Instructor to teach Professional Responder courses is as follows:
Step 1: Evaluate skills and check prerequisites
Step 2: Fundamentals of Instruction (onlne & in person)
Step 3: Discipline Specific Professional Responder
Step 4: Teaching Experience
Step 5: Certification!
This is only step 1 of the process.
You must hold a current Red Cross participant level certification in the discipline you wish to teach (Basic Life Support, First Responder or Emergency Medical Responder).
