EMALB Licensing for First Responders in BC

EMA Licensing Board practical exams for Canadian Red Cross First Responder certificate holders.

In British Columbia, you must hold a valid licence to practice as a first responder. If you've already taken your Canadian Red Cross First Responder course with us in the past 12 months, you can sign up here for your First Responder practical evaluations.

Once you've successfully completed your practical exams, our office will submit your program certificate and course results, including the practical exam answer sheets to EMALB.

You'll then need to:

  • Successfully complete the EMA Licensing Board online EMA FR written exam and online jurisprudence exam (instructions for applying below).
  • Complete and electronically submit an application for licence form.
  • Undergo a criminal record check within 12 months of the licence application

For more information about the licensing process, visit the EMALB website.

Awesome course. I've taken a course through St. John's, but I found the level of "hands-on" training more useful. The scenarios were a great learning tool and helps to reinforce the learning.

Priti Bhathella Standard First Aid, Victoria, BC More Testimonials

Chris was great and used effective teaching methods that were easy to learn and apply. We learned how to apply the knowledge in many different scenarios.

Perfect teaching! Interactive – even fun! Informative – repetitive – won’t forget material taught because basics are so reinforced and superfluous left out.
