We kindly ask anyone (participants and instructors) with symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat and painful swallowing to stay home and not attend the training session. Instead, please complete the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool, follow the recommendations given, and rebook your course for a later date.

During your course, wearing a mask that securely covers the nose, mouth, and chin is mandatory. You may bring your own, or one will be provided when you arrive. Thank you for keeping us and your classmates safe.

Preventing Disease Transmission - Online Only

Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) is designed to help organizations meet public health guidelines, and is suitable for all audiences, including those who work in front-line service delivery, retail, community and social services, and those who work with vulnerable populations.

PDT training is 40 minutes in length and participants earn a three-year certification at the end of the course, as well as a digital version of the Preventing Disease Transmission Pocket Guide.

Course Content

How to avoid infection and prevent pathogens from entering the body.
The different ways diseases are transmitted adn the role of immunization.
Appropriate handwashing technique.
How to use PPE correctly (gowns, masks, eyewear, gloves)
How to safely dispose of PPE

 

Course Delivery

This course will be taught entirely online in a virtual Zoom classroom led in real time by an instructor, who can provide feedback and answer questions. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email, and closer to the course date, you will receive a Zoom invitation to join the course.
